The story So far

ICEDIS developed from a working party formed by journal publishers and subscription agents to look at ways of automating subscription renewal procedures.

In 1989 ICEDIS published International Standards for Exchange of Machine Readable Subscription Orders. This has found wide acceptance and is used internationally for the transfer of orders between subscription agents and journal publishers on magnetic tape.

By 1998 an updated standard had been published incorporating the ISO Currency Codes and including third party consolidation addresses as an optional record. This standard is available for download from this site, click here.

The original standards conformed to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Committee (ASC)X12. ICEDIS is now working closely with EDItEUR and SISAC to migrate standards to EDIFACT.
